Washington Jr. High School has an outstanding tradition of excellence in academics, activities, the arts, and athletics.  This tradition of excellence doesn't happen by chance.  WJHS has always had ambitious, goal oriented students, exceptional parent and community support, and a staff that is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure success for all of our children.  I am so thrilled and very honored to serve as the Principal at Washington Jr. High School.

I began my career in education in 1989.  I have served as a teacher, coach, and since 1997, as an administrator in various positions at both the building and central office levels.

The mission that we have collaboratively developed at WJHS challenges us to be about more than test scores.  Our mission is to Inspire Excellence and to operate in The Wildcat Way.

The Wildcat Way can be summarized by the following statements:

  • Our students come first.  Everything that we do is dedicated to the development of Wildcats that achieve at the highest level and are Welcoming, Involved, Leading, Dependable, Cooperative, Ambitious, Teachable, and Serving.

  • Our commitment to our CORE values of Collaboration, Ongoing Learning, Relationships, and Expectations drive all of our actions.  While we obviously pay attention to mandates and accountability measures, they don't drive our actions.  We choose to be driven by our CORE values because we believe they help us keep our focus on what is most important.

  • We employ a purposeful Focus on Excellence Framework that helps ensure that students master essential skills while we as professionals continually strive for improvement.
